課程概述 |
Course Description
In this course, students will be exposed to the lasting debate of managed trade from various viewpoints. This is meant to help would-be managers understand the international economic context in which they operate. |
|
課程目標 |
The traditional theory of international trade will be introduced first and served as a base to assess the effect of policy interventions, the recent development of trade theory and international trade agreements. We will discuss theory and policy in the light of world events and evaluate many of the developments in the world trading area, including the GATT/WTO, NAFTA, ASEAN and its possible expansion, the EC, US-Japan relations as well as cross-straight trade flow.
The aim of the second module is to provide a thorough understanding of international finance and institutional operation. The international implications of macroeconomic and monetary policies, issues regarding FINTECH will be covered through the semester. We will discuss the institutional characteristics and evolvement of the foreign exchange market so as to catch the determinants of exchange rate dynamics.

Course Requirement
The class requirement includes regular participation and class responses (15%), four in-class quizzes (20%), two case reports (20%), a midterm and final examination (45%). You have to stay in a study group (up to 3 members) throughout the semester. The composition of any study group has to be a balanced mix of ability, sex and enthusiasm. We will rely on the theoretical models mostly to examine interesting empirical evidence and movement of key exchange-rates. Therefore, the second group project is set to demonstrate your attempt to assess and understand current macroeconomic problems in the world and to utilize the analytic tools and relevant concepts introduced in the second module.
